Obituary of Candie Chavez

Candie Ita Cordova Chavez age 92, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, February 12, 2023 two days short of celebrating her 93^rd birthday.

Candie was born on February 14, 1930, to Elaudio and Jaunita Cordova. She was a lifelong resident of the beautiful South Valley of Albuquerque.  Candie was a devoted wife of 65 years to her husband Perfecto Chavez Jr. until his passing in 2017.  She raised four sons and loved making a beautiful homelife for her family. 

Candie is preceded in death by her husband, Perfecto Chavez Jr., her parents, Elaudio and Jaunita Cordova, Her brother Toby Cordova, sisters, Josie King, Helen Chavez, Frances Jimenez, Mary Garcia, and Dolores Montoya.  Her sons Robert and Orlando Chavez, and her granddaughter Amanda Renee Chavez.

She is survived by her sisters, Flora Otero, Lucy Diaz and partner Grant, and brother Nestor Cordova and wife Doris.  Son Edward and husband Tony Bosco, son Raymond Chavez and wife Cathy, and granddaughters Rayanna Chavez and fiancé Kyle Benninghoff, Alyssa Martinez and husband Moses.  Stepdaughter Loretta Perez and husband Ignacio, and grandsons Stephen and Ignacio Perez Jr.  stepdaughter Janet Gonzales and husband Allen, and granddaughter Aline Sais and husband Josh.  Granddaughter Delora Cole (daughter of the late Robert Chavez) and her husband BeeJay and their five children.  Including many other family members.

We will all miss her greatly, but we can all take comfort in the fact that she is now in Heaven dancing with her “Honito”.

Services will be held at Riverside Funeral home @ 225 San Mateo Blvd NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico on February 22, 2023 at 10am.  Interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park 924 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico immediately following services.
