Obituary of Onofre "Onie" Geiman

'Defender of Peace'

Onofre “Onie” Geiman passed away at her home in Edgewood, New Mexico on July 15, 2021. She was 81 years old and is survived by her three children, Clarence, Roberta, & Renee Madrid. Also, Roberta’s daughter, Raven Selman and her great-granddaughter Aleyna Selman, and Clarence's daughter, Erika Madrid and her great-grandson Orion.

Her parents were Vicente & Simonita Gallegos & her six siblings who preceded her in death were Leoniers, Emilia, Frank, Magerito, Josie, & Eusebio. She is survived by her 3 siblings Mary, Amadeo, & Laudente. She also had numerous nieces & nephews & numerous great-great nieces and nephews.

Onofre “Onie” Geiman was the youngest child of twelve & grew up on their families ’ranch in Canyon Largo. Grandma Simonita raised her to be an independent country woman, living life on her own terms, & she had an unwavering belief in God. She was also taught to be compassionate to others.

Onie was a single mother who worked two jobs to provide for her 3 kids to give them the best life possible.

Onie was also a very great cook, kept a super clean house, & was a strict mother. She loved to travel & took her kids on numerous vacations. She also had a great sense of humor & was a very classy lady who dressed impeccably & was very elegant. In addition, she was very passionate about helping others during hard times, by feeding, donating clothes, making meals, baking her delectable goodies as presents & recently by sewing masks for the frontline workers during the pandemic with her great-granddaughter, Aleyna. Her family was her life! Ultimately, she loved life, lived it to the fullest, made our house a home AND loved us all unconditionally.

The viewing & memorial service will be held at Riverside Funeral Home at 225 San Mateo Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108, on July 30, 2021, from 2:30-4 p.m. There will be a reception immediately afterwards at Amadeo’s Pizza on 3109 Coors Blvd. SW, Abq, NM 87121 following the service.
